WellingtonHigh Interact Club Supports ALS Walk at Roger Dean Stadium

March 17, 2007 - Wellington, FL – A group of exceptional students from The Wellington High Interact Club rolled out of bed very early Saturday morning to board a van, generously provided by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office, to participate in the “Walk to D’Feet ALS” at Roger Dean Stadium.

Leading the event were the students of the Wellington High Interact Club led by its Vice President Stephanie Pena. Wellington Rotary Club Vocational Chair and Rotary Liaison to the Wellington High Interact Club, Steve Deinema, and Wellington High Faculty advisor Johnny Bostick orchestrated the event.  “The students arose to the occasion to support Mark McLean, one of our beloved Rotary members, who has been afflicted with this debilitating disease”, Deinema said.  The students walked over 2 miles to help in the fight to “D’Feet ALS”  The Wellington Rotary Club raised over $4,100 to go toward the $90,000 goal set by the ALS Association.

A special thanks goes out to CPL. Rafael Duran, Jr. of the Palm Beach Sheriff’s office for taking time from his busy schedule to transport the students from Wellington to the event and back.  Were it not for the support of numerous individuals from within the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office assisting us in finding transportation to get this many students to the venue, this event would not have been possible.  Steve Deinema added “CPL Duran is a spectacular ambassador for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office and it was our good fortune to have his assistance.”
